Bachechi Open Space

"An amazing set of trails with lots of tree canopy, dirt trails, a river and a lake which make this area seem quite serene, beautiful and green. Come here on a hot summer day so you can cool off here with nature. There is plenty of parking and the spaces are wide open."

"The history here goes back to having an pecan orchard, a chicken farm, nursery & equestrian space over the last century. With the purchase of the land by Bernalillo county the old barn and home were removed and the land was preserved. There is an arboretum, an educational center, and several information signs along some foot paths. I took a moment to stop and smell the roses and meandered on, beyond the acequia and pond is the Bosque trail. This area is frequented by runners and cyclists especially. Beyond that I had seen Whooping cranes more ducks and returning back towards Bachechi I saw a roadrunner near by the arboretum we both watched each other for a while. I would return to see the side that I did not venture into, and appreciate the area that the people of the past have spent so much hard work and time invested into this great open space. Which has my admiration to say the least."

"Took a short walk along Rio Grande while visiting ABQ for business trip. Lots of bikers. Seems like a nice place for family. Has a really nice garden area to walk through"

"Chill area easy parking, many wide open trails all dogs we saw were on leash (thank you!) Bathrooms and bikes , heads up they come fast! (The bikes) saw 3 rangers and a fisherperson"
