Clark's Hill/Norton State Historic Site

"We caught a beautiful late February morning for our walk on the Osage Trail at Clark's Hill/Norton State Historic Site. There were two other walkers when we arrived. The trail surfaces were in good condition. We wanted to check the views before the trees start to leaf out. Though you can see the Missouri or Osage Rivers in places, there weren't as much in the way of expansive views as we might have expected. All-in-all, we enjoyed a very pleasant walk and your legs get a good workout on the river hills."

"Nice little hike up the hill to a beautiful view. A little muddy when wet but a very nice place."

"This is a good hiking trail that has enough elevation gain to make it a nice workout too. In the winter you can see the Missouri River from the bench up top, with foliage probably not so much. Platform at the end has a nice view of the trees, would be better with foliage but nice nevertheless. Views of the Osage River as well near the platform, too bad there isn’t a trail to the confluence."

"Clark's Hill/Norton State Historic Site in Missouri is a beautiful destination for history and nature enthusiasts. The site is a hilltop that has multiple Indian burial mounds at the top and offers visitors an opportunity to learn about the history of the area while also seeing some beautiful views. The site is limited to only one walking trail that winds through the natural surroundings. But The trail allows visitors to view a variety of flora and fauna, including wildflowers, birds, and, if you’re lucky, the occasional bobcat. In addition, the site offers plenty of parking and is perched on a hilltop next to the Missouri River. Overall, Clark's Hill/Norton State Historic Site is a great place to visit for anyone interested in history, nature, and outdoor recreation. The site offers a unique and peaceful atmosphere that is perfect for a quick hike. I highly recommend checking it out."

"The Osage Trail here is a natural trail steeped in history - both historic and pre-historic - with interpretive signs at the parking lot and along the trail that aren't just all about Lewis & Clark, which is good. I imagine in wet weather the trail would be a muddy mess, but it had been dry for a while when I got there. It's buggy in the July heat, but that's Missouri in the woods. I'm sure the views are better in cooler months when it's easier to see through all the trees."
