"Drost Park: A Cozy Maryville Gem Drost Park in Maryville, Illinois, truly is a cozy local gem and the perfect spot for low-key, quality family time. It strikes a wonderful balance between offering amenities and maintaining a peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere that makes every visit feel like a genuine escape. The centerpiece of the park’s appeal for family gatherings is the spacious, well-maintained pavilion. Whether you’re packing a simple picnic lunch or setting up for a full dinner, the pavilion provides excellent shelter and a welcoming environment for communal meals. It’s the kind of place where you can relax knowing the family is comfortable and shaded, making it ideal for celebrating milestones or simply enjoying a weeknight meal outdoors. Beyond the perfect dining setup, Drost Park offers lovely opportunities for recreation. The pond is a peaceful draw, especially for those looking to cast a line. The fishing is great for both seasoned anglers and kids learning the ropes, adding a fun, quiet activity to the day. Meanwhile, the small, charming playground ensures that younger children have a dedicated space to run, climb, and burn off energy in a safe and visible area. Drost Park is not about flashy attractions; it’s about simple pleasures and community spirit. It’s highly recommended for anyone in the Maryville area seeking a clean, beautiful, and deeply relaxing spot to reconnect with family and enjoy the outdoors."

"Well planted, well planned park. Great walking paths, really nice flower plantings and veggie garden (produce goes to food pantry). The paths are paved, used by walkers and cyclists. The first day we tried to go there, we got caught in a huge rain storm. We sheltered under the porch of a small locked shed until the water eventually began flowing in from both sides AND from under the door of the shed! We were all wet from rain blowing in. Another adventure!"
