4 years ago"This historic site, where Union forces thwarted a Confederate plan to create a slave-holding empire stretching from Virginia to California, offers visitors two attractive options: either a short, easy stroll or a 2.5 mile hike across the beautiful terrain on which this battle was fought. There's lots of signage and markers tied to an inexpensive brochure available at the park's Welcome Center, but I saw none of the usual battlefield bric-a-brac. No cannons or statuary. Just a pleasant hike through the cool and shady trees. This trail is gated. Check in with the rangers at the Pecos National Historical Park for directions and access to the trailhead."

2 years ago"A nice 2+ mile hike with minimal elevation gain. No mud in early April and only saw one other person on the trail. Make sure you get the gate code from the Pecos National Historic Site Visitor Center, first!"

6 months ago"Trail is nice but your going to hear highway noise for most of the walk. Look forward to any improvements the NPS will be doing on this important area of history when it becomes possible."
