"How to prepare for your hike: • Bring something warm. I did this hike four days before the summer solstice and there was still snow at the top. The windchill was strong at the top so I had put on a hoodie. • The drive up there is an unpaved dirt road. You're looking at about 17 minutes of driving on dirt as you make your way up to the trail head. Drive safely. • It gets steep and arduous, especially at the end with the last two switchbacks. • Bring water and a snack."

"Lovely moderate level hike. Well defined trail. Switch backs up to the summit. Needed a wind breaker along the ridge and summit. But well worth the effort, spectacular views!! 6.5 miles elevation 11,301 - the 10 Essentials - don’t leave home without them!!"

"Great hike. It was fairly moderate, but the pitch up the hill can be rough if you aren't in shape. It is a fun hike. We enjoyed a nice loop by going up Gooseberry Springs and then coming down the ridge and back up the road to the parking lot."

"This was an AWESOME hike!! Great trail and absolutely beautiful! It is probably rated hard because you start at 9,000 and go to 11,000. One part in the middle is tough because it is definitely an uphill trail. Not scrabbly though, just up a mountain. When we were coming down we almost missed the turn to the trail (there is a road too)--ooops. We are looking forward to doing it in the fall before it snows so we can see the aspens."

"Steady incline to the peak, but not too hard. The views on the way and at the top are beautiful. Keep an eye on the clouds. Lightning storms come up suddenly and can be pretty dangerous on an exposed peak."
