"I was driving from STL to IND on Memorial day and decided to go through Vandalia, IL to see this dragon. It is a quick stop. You can go to a close by store and get a token to have it breathe fire. I didn't do that while there so I'm not sure what it costs."

"The Kaskaskia Dragon is one of those roadside stops that makes you do a double take—in the best way. Sitting right along Route 40, it’s a massive metal dragon that feels completely out of place… and that’s exactly what makes it so fun. This thing isn’t small either—it’s about 35 feet long with a towering neck, just hanging out like it owns the highway. And the coolest part? It actually breathes fire. You can drop a token in and watch it shoot flames out of its mouth for a few seconds, which is honestly wild when you’re just on a regular road trip."

"I saw a post on FB and sent to my husband and so we went the next day. Its off the road and there's not much to do or look at but it was a fun excursion. We went during the day and figured at night would be better. You will need to go across the street to the liquor store and grab tokens. They are $1 each."

"An ok roadside attraction. It offered a chance to get out of the car and walk. We visited during the day. It was hard to see the flame. It would be much better at night."

"Its a silly, derpy dragon that seems very out of place. But that's the charm! Cross the road to the liquor store and ask the clerk for a token, it costs $1. She retrieved the token from a fireball whiskey bucket, how fitting! He breathes fire only for about 10 seconds. Don't go expecting a full on show or professionally made movie prop. Someone made this, like folk art. But I thought it was cute and quirky and glad we went a few minutes out of the way to stop."
