Needles Regional Museum

"Nice little museum with friendly staff. Suggested donation of $2, I left $5. The Harvey Hotel, El Graces is directly across the street. Call ahead of time to see if you can get a tour when you will be in town. I do not suggest waiting the day of. I was there on a Monday and the Visitor Center (housed in the hotel) was closed this day of the week, so I wasn't able to see the lobby exhibits or walk out to the train stop (new Amtrak Station, I believe). I think Saturdays are a good day to get a tour, but it seems the man who does them will do them when requested, ahead of time. I'll be planning it next time as I drive through Needles yearly or am in Lake Havasu City. The museum has wonderful historical items specific to the town and several set of Harvey dining car dish sets. The original Amtrak Station is a short walk down the original Route 66, Front Drive, after the hotel and employee parking lot. There is a huge statue of Spike inside and the day I was there the original owner of that statue was visiting with his young grandchildren. I enjoyed "eavesdropping" on that conversation, which wasn't hard he was so proudly loud! The museum is housed in the original JC Penney building which was the first location in California. (One of the staff was a wealth of knowledge.)"

"I would thoroughly recommend this little museum, run by enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable volunteers there is a wealth of knowledge. Who knew Needles was the birthplace of 'Spike' Snoopy's brother? I would also recommend taking up the offer of the free tour of the Harvey Hotel. This is a must see and must experience opportunity,also donate to the museum funds, I want the Harvey Hotel to be an amazing place to come and visit in years to come!"

"Needles is the home of Snoopy‘s brother Spike. The museum has lot of fun memorabilia and artifacts from around town. You can also learn about the Mojave tribe. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in town."

"Storefront museum with artifacts from needles, including railroad photos and vintage objects. Free admission donations accepted. A very knowledgeable and friendly volunteer. The museum closes at 2 pm. It's partially supported by the thrift store next door. It may be closed in the summer. There's a large statue of Spike, Snoopies brother. Charles Schultz lived in Needles as a boy and wrote about Spike in his comics."

"Another great stop on a road trip. They have plenty of memorabilia of a day gone by. My wife is a fan of westerns and films of that era so she immediately recognized many of the items on display. They let our daughter use the restroom in the back and they were very knowledgeable and passionate about their history."
