9 months ago"I have attempted to move this marker to where the actual obelisk stands down a old dirt road. One of only two landmarks for a motor trail that predates Route 66, which is right down the road. It was placed sometime around 1913 and shows a bit or west and tear. You can see where some people have shot it even taken a hammer to it, unfortunately."

2 years ago"The Ozark Trail obelisk in Stroud is one of only two remaining Oklahoma monuments of the historic motor trail that predates Route 66. The Ozark Trail was established in 1913 and routes were originally marked with 21 green and white obelisks from Missouri to New Mexico and Texas. Nationally, only seven obelisks remain. This 21-foot-tall structure in Stroud was originally erected along Main Street, but was later relocated to its current location closer to Davenport. It’s just a couple minutes from Route 66 and we’ll worth your time!"

2 years ago"A great piece of Oklahoma and American History. There are only two Ozark Trail Obelisks left in Oklahoma. One is outside Stroud on a dirt road. Oneis in between Coyle and Langston, Oklahoma. I don’t recommend going to the one in Stroud if it’s raining."

a year ago"I believe all roads here are partially unpaved. The Ozark Trail marker has some graffiti on it but is still impressive and stimulates the imagination."
