Rinconada Canyon Trail

"Had a great time on the Rinconada Canyon Trail. My wife and I took our two dogs who also had a great time. The trail is mostly sand and dirt. We had almost given up hope on seeing any petroglyphs but about 3/4 of a mile in you will start seeing them! Nice easy hike, we also saw some coyotes off in the distance."

"This place is beautiful especially on a clear day. Came here with my fiancée and we saw so many cool petroglyphs and the explainer sign markers make it easy to self guide here. The buzzing of bugs in the area is actually peaceful. There was a guy selling “homemade snacks” besides that is an awesome place with tons of history and best of all it’s free! Come prepared with your own water and snacks and enjoy!"

"The Rinconada Canyon Trail is one of three trails in the Petroglyph National Monument. The large parking lot is located south of the Visitor Center. This is a 2.2 mile loop trail. This is an easy trail that is very well marked. The petroglyphs are fantastic to see. The park service indicates that there are about 300 images in this area. Note that not all images are visible from the trail, but you will see plenty. Also note that you may not see any images for the first 1/2 - 3/4 mile or more of the trail. Be patient! The park service has an audio trail guide that you can access via your phone. There are about 14 stops/segments on the audio trail. The trail markers aren't numbered for the audio stops. However, you can track where you are based on the distances on the audio tour and the trail markers. The first stop on the audio tour starts at the parking lot."

"Easy enough trail, no steep climbs or anything, just a peaceful walk. I really enjoyed it, there is no shade though, so if you're coming in the summer make sure to bring some water!"
