"This is one stunning basilica! Known locally as the "New Cathedral" (the much smaller, older, and very historic "Old Cathedral" can be visited downtown on the grounds of the Gateway Arch National Park), this very large, beautiful church is world famous for its immense display of spectacular mosaics. The 83,000 square feet of mosaics is considered the largest display of such artwork in the world (although a church in St. Petersburg, Russia, claims to hold more, but this has never been verified). Even though Saint Louis offers many wonderful and must-see places to visit, I would recommend finding time to see the "New Cathedral." You will not be disappointed."
