Amarillo KOA Journey

"This was lovely spot, especially with dogs. We loved watching the birds of prey hunting in the nearby fields. The noise of the trains wasn’t bad at all and felt more quaint than obnoxious. I’d rather have trains & planes then the sounds of the highway and we had zero highway sounds. The dog parks were great, and the campground had other nice fields with dog bag dispensers scattered throughout. Nothing sharp for their paws the whole time. We saw the staff raking & cleaning up the dog park as we were leaving which really speaks to their attention to a nice park! We’ll be back next time we’re in town!"

"10/29/25 Great Stay at Amarillo KOA We had a great stay at the Amarillo KOA! The campground was clean, well maintained, and easy to access from the highway. The sites were level and spacious, and the hookups were easy to access — perfect for our Class A motorhome and tow vehicle. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made check-in quick and simple — a great place to rest and recharge. One thing to note: there’s a train that goes by nearby, so if you’re a light sleeper like me, consider that your early alarm around 4:30 a.m. Other than that, it’s a great KOA and we’d definitely stay here again!"

"Easy overnight stay on long trip. Hosts were good, site level and easy to leave town vehicle hooked up. Nice amenities with grass for dog, dog park (didn’t use), decent store. Food truck on site, but didn’t use it - open for dinner and breakfast. It is next to a small airport and there are trains closely but we use white noise machine at night so didn’t affect us. Good stay, everything worked well, decent price."

"Update: we thought we booked an overnight & turns out we somehow didn't (totally our error) & they were so super nice to get us settled after a long day of driving. We will continue to recommend this location. Good overnight stay - gravel pull thru. Staff was friendly and helpful. It was easy to find & right on our route. If you are sensitive to sounds, you will definitely hear the trains."

"I want to say this is one of the best KOA’s around. When you have had a long drive and all you want to do is eat and sleep you should stop here. The camp is so quiet in the evening and relaxing. If you need a shower, they are SO CLEAN . And don’t forget to make sure all your clothes are clean they have 6 washers and 3 large drys that are very clean. When it’s nice and the time of year they have a pool. they also have kid park. When your dog needs a run they have 2 dog runs. The best thing I can say about this KOA is they have the BEST HOST and STAFF ever. They work hard every day to make sure you have the best experience you could ever want."
