"I visited Springfield, IL last month to say goodbye to my wonderful childhood friend who was dying of cancer. When researching on Google for a decent hotel that was reasonably priced, this one kept coming up. Since I was traveling, my husband made the reservation for me. When I checked in, the woman at the desk was kind and very helpful in getting my room. The hotel is near the interstate which is convenient, and there are a few restaurants nearby that have good ratings as well. The hotel is a little tired and has some wear and tear if you look hard, but is very clean, serviceable, comfortable and with a great staff! There is no breakfast offered at this hotel, but the room has a full sized kitchen in a small space with everything you could possibly need to make a meal. They do have food for sale in a room down near the desk if you just want something quick to microwave or just have a snack. There is also a grocery store about a mile north of the hotel at the corner of Dirksen Pkwy and S. Grand Ave along with some Tesla super chargers. They have all of the shower amenities you would need in the bathroom, like shampoo, conditioner and body soap, as I'd forgotten mine in my rush to get up north. The bed, bedding and pillows (offering a combination of soft and firm pillows) was very comfortable and I think I had the best sleep I'd had in a while! All of the people I interacted with at this hotel were kind, courteous and full of knowledge of the area. One person in particular stood out, and her name was Chantaria (I sure hope I spelled it right). She was the one that helped me with check in (as there was a slight issue) and I had the most wonderful conversation with her later on when I came back down to ask some questions. I will definitely stay with Candlewood Suites in Springfield on any future trips I make to the area, they offer a clean, comfortable and safe place to stay with a wonderful staff!"
