"The young man at the desk blew my mind, was either Justin or Dustin, when I checked in the desk was busy, he single handily checked me in while also getting payment for another person for snacks and made a key for another room all within a few minutes! Talk about fast workers, he did all this while still making me feel comfortable! Couldn’t ask for better guest services! The hotel was busy for sure but quiet for a Friday night, room was great and so was the breakfast! Will be back to this hotel when we travel through next! Only complaint was the room was a little dark, other than that was a great stay!"

"Very average place that is made far better by excellent staff. Yes, in a week's stay, I had some minor issues but in every case the hotel staff member on duty very quickly addressed and solved the problem. I travel all the time and incredibly average and highly functional is more important to me than fancy. Hilton Honors affiliates have had a hard time allowing my remote digital key check-in process work. Instead of figuring out how to fix the problem, most hotels blame Hilton and Hilton blames your app for not being set correctly or blames the local affiliate. However, I discovered that if I called ahead and spoke to hotel staff directly, they are able to clear the way for me to get the digital key and proceed directly to my room if they actually feel like digging into the problem and working on it. This Collinsville Hampton desk manager did the work necessary to make my digital key work. The week before, a DoubleTree Hotel had a desk manager that when called did nothing at all to help so I had the old fashioned digital key not available experience. Recently stayed in a place that had great design and architecture but that had many eroded details from age which only made the room and fitness center flaws that much more noticeable. The Hampton Inn Collinsville, IL could definitely benefit from a renovation. The less than perfect items seemed less noticeable because of the hard working staff. The seemingly common and normal Hampton Inn old, tired carpets were accompanied by very obsolete HVAC in my room. The HVAC unit had no wall-mounted thermostat but rather had controls on the window unit. That HVAC system was very loud, ran for very long periods of time and really never reached a truly comfortable temperature. As normal as the aged carpets seem to be in Hampton Inns lately, it's been a long, long time since I have encountered an old, loud, barely functional HVAC unit like this unit. It was horrible. Also annoying was that the mini-fridge did not have freezer compartment so I had to ask the desk managers to freeze my lunch packs in their freezer downstairs. I checked and mini-fridges with freezer units are almost the exact same price so I don't understand this at all. In addition, no microwave is in the room but I asked the desk about that and they found a microwave I was able to use in my room. Service does make a difference. The fitness center was not bad nor smelly (like the fancy place's fitness center last week), had machines that were quiet though incredibly low tech. However, the fitness center was not 24/7 so I had to go ask the desk to open it when I like work out at 5 am every day. Why not 24/7 access? No idea. The TV had a modern, menu driven setup with access to an excellent variety of content and a very clear picture. Again, far better than even some fancy places I have experienced lately. The free breakfasts were wonderful and smelled great which truthfully was the only time the lobby smelled nice. There was a bit of a bathroom odor throughout the hotel but mostly in the lobby and elevator area that was greatly minimized by the wonderful breakfast smells. Overall, a decently acceptable place made far better by good location and interstate access and excellent staff."

"I have stayed at many Hampton Inn's. The room was similar to most other Hampton's, however, the service was great. The breakfast was good per usual (I really enjoy Hampton breakfasts), however, they did not have the canister for the hot water next to the coffee's. That was fine because I was able to warm up water in the microwave just fine. Drake called me to make sure we were still arriving since it was past 8 p.m. He greeted me at the entrance with such a friendly smile and conversation. He has excellent customer service. I was so surprised to still see him there in the morning manning the front desk and he was still there when we left at 10:00 a.m. After an overnight shift and what seemed to be working 12 hours, he was still greeting customers and chatting with everyone so friendly. Drake is an asset to Hampton Inn and I hope he is acknowledged for his incredible service to the customers."
