"This was our first time staying at a Riu in the States and it was really nice! Check-in was seamless and Nick was great! Both friendly and knowledgeable. We got the rate with breakfast included and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. The family noticed that there was so much variety for most any type of dietary restrictions. That is so important because on speaking to several guests, I noticed that many were from all around the world. Chicago is a place that draws alot of visitors and Riu was definately prepared to welcome them. The rooms, by the way, were beautiful. I was really happy that there was no carpet on the floors...just a personal preference...and the bathrooms were so pretty and clean. I like the flexibility of the bathroom door. It can close the entire bathroom, including the shower area, off from the actual room or if someone just has to use the toilet area, the door swings back to close them off and leave the sink and shower available. Might not seem like a big deal but the small touches make a difference to me. The view was beautiful as well! Thank you Riu for coming to the Midwest!"

"We stayed at Hotel Ria Plaza in the heart of Chicago and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is very clean, and housekeeping is done frequently. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. The rooms are small, but that wasn’t an issue at all since we spent most of our time exploring the city. If you’re out walking all day, you really don’t need a large room. The breakfast was amazing — fresh, delicious, with a great variety of food and plenty of fruit. Everything was high quality and very enjoyable. Overall, everything was excellent. We were very satisfied with our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chicago."

"We spent the weekend at the Riu Plaza and had an amazing experience! The hotel is in a fantastic location and offers everything you could want for a comfortable stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and our room was perfect—cozy beds, a great shower, and plenty of fresh towels right from the start. Breakfast was outstanding, with options to suit everyone: cereals, yogurt, toast, fresh fruit, and a variety of hot dishes that changed daily. They even have bellhops available if you need help with your luggage. Michael greeted us as soon as we arrived in our Uber and handled everything effortlessly. His warm, genuine attitude was the perfect way to start our stay—and we were lucky to have him there when we checked out too!"

"The rooms were nice and clean and updated, but nothing fancy. The free breakfast had a good selection, and they definitely have a good method for keeping things flowing smoothly, however it was packed. It’s not the hotel’s fault, but it was so annoying. We were seated at a table next to the buffet, where everyone walked through and hovered over us looking at the food. As for the room itself, the bathroom was clean and had plenty of towels and products, but the shower head didn’t have hard pressure, and the water didn’t get very hot. Bed was comfy, and when we asked for an extra blanket, it arrived quickly. We couldn’t figure out how to cast from our phones to the tv. Overall, a good but not luxurious experience."

"The service was excellent, the room and lobby were clean, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. The location was very convenient and the price was very reasonable. The main issue I had was the bed was extremely uncomfortable! The pillows, sheets, and blanket, were all very synthetic and scratchy. There was only a thin blanket on top of the sheets, despite it being December! Also, the room next to us had a group of people who came back to the hotel at like 2 am and started BLASTING music, like we could hear it crystal clear through the walls, and then screaming over the music to hear each other. We called the front desk, and although they did respond, and asked the people to be respectful, they left immediately and the people just turned the music right back up. We didn’t sleep at all. Didn’t seem like a party hotel to us at booking, but maybe that was our mistake. Thank god they weren’t there the next night. Overall, we would for sure consider staying here again. It was certainly much better than a budget box-hotel. P.S. and, I know this is a weird issue to have, but— the toilet was rectangular?? and HUGE? I literally had to balance on the edge of it so that i wouldn’t fall in!"
