3 months ago"I stayed here for about a month and a half while trying to find a new place to live in Illinois. It felt like divine intervention that I found this place! Considerably cheaper than most, probably because it's across from a truck stop, but I didn't find it noisy or anything - it was pretty convenient whenever I needed gas or snacks. The motel seemed to have plenty of guests during my stay, but the walls are thick enough that TV and other noise doesn't really travel too much. The couple who owns the motel are kind and genuine hard-working people and they somehow manage to run the entire place as a family without other staff. The king size bed was very comfy with lots of pillows. My room was cleaned regularly with no issues and certainly nothing like the negative reviews. The lamp on one of the nightstands wasn't working properly, but it was never an issue because there were several other lamps. I truly don't understand some of the negative reviews I've read about this place, but the fact that the owners happen to be an Indian family seems to track with how some of the reviews strike me as being a little racist or xenophobic. It's not even like they speak English poorly. They were kind enough to gift me their statue of Ganesha from the lobby after seeing my shrine to Ganesha in my room. One of these reviews complaining about "a strange smell" I'm pretty sure is just somebody who doesn't care for the aroma of delicious Indian cooking. These people have a family to care for and I always thought their food smelled delicious. Overall I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. If you don't like the view of the truck stop, the opposite side of the building is next to a scenic pond. Although I don't know why I would ever need to stay here again, I couldn't imagine a better motel for $54 a night. 350 for a week. One thing to note is that Google still thinks there is a restaurant here - it hasn't been open for a while, not that I can blame the family, because running a motel is more than enough work without also trying to run a restaurant."
