"My family and I stayed here during a stopover in Amarillo. This hotel far exceeded our expectations. From a helpful and friendly front desk and doorman to excellent food and drinks. The 100 year old building is unassuming from the exterior, but the interior is high end in a way that doesn't feel out ouf place. The crossed pistols inlays in various parts of the floor are very cool. Staff was friendly, dropped off chocolates for my wife and I to our room and gave our dog a milk bone and branded bandana. We drank at the main bar outside of the restaurant, the cocktails were excellent and fair price. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent. Good steaks and some of the best corn chowder I've had. Breakfast was decent, albeit a bit understaffed. I broke off and got a cocktail at the speakeasy in the basement. A true speakeasy style hidden entrance with no door knob and good drinks. Overall had a great experience and plan on staying here again of ever in Amarillo ."

"STAY HERE. Very beautiful and clean hotel. Friendly staff. Especially Debra, she cares deeply about your stay and can give you historical knowledge about the hotel and the town. Speakeasy in the basement is very cool. Located around good restaurants and bars. Would book again here without hesitation"

"Hotel room and decor of lobby and the concept of the speakeasy bar are top notch. There is a wild west with cattle theme. My only negative for my 1 day stay is the heater did not work, we stay in late December, was very cold. It would come on like 10% of the time when the room temp was clearly much lower than the set temp, it was stuck in "STANDBY" and tried fiddling with it for over an hour. The bathroom exhaust vent didn't work. And our robe, had coffee brown stains on it. We stayed on the 10th floor, view was great. Room was quiet. Water was medium-hot when taking shower or using sink, wish it can be hotter still as like hot showers in the winter. Had one issue in morning where the hot water on shower turned off when I was letting it run, had to turn the cold water on and then turn back to hot water to get hot water flowing... Bathroom had no bath tub unfortunately, there is no pool / jacuzzi in this hotel. Toilet worked well, toiletries were well stocked. Other than these down sides, the hotel is an iconic hotel in the down town area of Amarillo. Loved the decorations and thought put into it. Parking is $20 for valet. There is not parking places for visitors to use. If you don't want to pay for valet and manage it oneself, you can park on the public down town street. You can find public parking for free if you're parking outside of the normal hours. The street parking by the hotel says 8am to 5pm mon-fri for 2 hours, there's no pay meter required. So if you park outside this time/date range then it's unlimited. If you need park during the working hours, then you need check on your car to move it or else you may have issues."

"Great rooms... High end Marriott. Very clean. I downgraded to 4 stars for two reasons: The breakfast service was awful. 40 minutes to get our food. The waitress hated life and the customer. My Pumpkin Muffin was raw, uncooked, and when I asked to send it back and not pay, the waitress fought back, almost refusing my request. The other reason was Valet parking. There is a very secure lot next to the hotel, and I was guaranteed my truck would be there....not. it was moved to an auxiliary parking area two blocks away, less secure.... The hotel was kind enough to not charge me the 20$ for Valet, but I was miss-led at check-in and that was wrong. Advice to the Barfield: Fire your waitress staff doing Breakfast and hire people that will uphold a higher standard hotel image."
