The Buckingham Hotel

"Lovely hotel in a great location. Very easy to walk to main train station with city lines and metro. Short walk to millennium park and nearby galleries and Riverwalk. As mentioned in other reviews, the entrance is inside 425 financial building. Elevator up to the 39th floor and then transfer to another elevator up to 40. Front desk staff are very helpful in this but it can be tricky first time in. Great views from the rooms and a nice help yourself style continental breakfast."

"Been to Chicago numerous times but never really stayed and enjoyed the heart of downtown. I decided to play tourist and enjoy the downtown atmosphere and culture. As previously mentioned, the directions to the entrance were difficult but following another reviewers advice, I GPS’d the Taureaux Tavern and it brought me right to the front of the building. Large statue of a horse in a water fountain. Right before this entrance is the parking garage where you can park before entering the hotel building. I would come right out the parking garage entrance to the hotel building entrance. From there, you arrive at a lobby with very friendly and helpful staff, who will call upstairs to let them know you have arrived. You are granted access to the elevator’s where you will ride them up to floor 39. Right off that floor is a private hotel elevator for the 40th floor. Once you get there, everything from that point should make sense. The views were amazing! Could see the lake and the Willis tower! Staff were friendly and helpful with all questions and inquiries. Previous post had me preparing for unfriendly staff greetings but I received the complete opposite. Definitely perfect for a romantic trip or solo getaway. Perfect spot to get right into the heart of down and enjoy the attractions! Would definitely stay again."

"Nice hotel with amazing views, especially from the higher floors – definitely a highlight of the stay. However, I give it 4/5 mainly because it’s unnecessarily complicated to find your way the first time. You need to go through a series of elevators (three in total!) to finally get to the hotel floor. It’s a bit confusing and not ideal after a long drive or with luggage. A small sign or clearer directions would go a long way. Once you’re in, everything is much easier. The room was clean and comfortable, and the lake view was absolutely worth it. Unfortunately, breakfast was disappointing – limited options and not on the same level as the rest of the experience. Still, a good place to stay for the views and location."
