There was a version of A Christmas Carol in the room for us to read, and I adored it so much, I ordered an identical copy that should ship before I get home. If you're into history at all, what a cool place."

I did request chocolate covered strawberries (which were incredible btw) instead of the full romance package add-on because my partner doesn't drink, but we were given and charged for the champagne anyway. No big because I could've refused, but it made me feel like they didn't read my full request. We also requested a quiet room and were put right next to the elevators, but they may not have had anything available. Being on the top floor was nice, but we woke up to slamming doors earlier than we wanted. We also ate breakfast about 30 mins before ending time, and everything was stale. So much so that we couldn't eat it, but we know to go early next time. Overall a good experience! Will stay again!"

High dusting hadn't been done in awhile, as dust was evident on the higher surfaces/wall. The hvac vent had a good coat of dust, as well. As a Hospitality worker with a work history in housekeeping, and with a spouse that specializes in historical building management, we have a keen eye for cleanliness in our hotel stays. When we first arrived, our bed had been made with a sheet that clearly had bleach splashed across it that sat for quite some time, as the splashed areas were transparent from the chemical sitting so long. While this technically wasn't a cleanliness issue, it didn't look very nice. This was remedied the next day through stay over service cleaning. Unsure what program this property uses for reservations, but my request for foam pillows was not initially met (but was amended thru stay over service cleaning). All in all, though despite some issues, we would stay again. The staff are wonderful, the location is very convenient, and the decor is charming."
