2 years ago"After seeing this place featured on CBS Saturday Morning, a visit was planned to see the historic Threatt Filling Station. As a part of the trail on Route 66 and Pattawatomie Road in Luther, Ok, this landmark has been carefully and beautifully restored. It was placed on the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Built in 1915 by Allen Threatt, it is one of the few surviving Black-owned businesses along Route 66. It was an honor to stand on the ground where this Filling Station was once alive, bustling with people and cars traveling along. Take a drive to Luther, Oklahoma, and revisit history being preserved, restored, and honored."

10 months ago"Unfortunately there is no marker for this building just off Route 66 outside of Luther OK. If you don't know why there should be a marker: please educate yourself. (I did). I never knew this existed or why until very recently. Built in 1915, and owned and operated by the Threatt family, this service station served as a safe haven for African American travelers. The building is closed to the public currently, but let's hope it can be re-opened and the story told."

in the last week"This is a interesting feature along the famous Route 66. Unfortunately for us it was not open to the public at the time wr visited. Can't wait until it is. Outside has been beautifully renovated. Loved the nostalgia of the old fuel pumps."
