a year ago"This Welcome Center is better than many rest areas that we visited during our trip. The building is very clean and well maintained. The walls are covered with license plates from all over the country which I think is really cool. The vending machines are provided by the state and all proceeds from sales go to help the blind— I was truly impressed when I saw that! 👍🏻 There’s ample room to stretch, walk pets and let little ones tire out. The playground area looks like new with picnic tables nearby for the adults. “Construction Barrel Charlie” is there to greet you as you walk up to the doors… 🤣 I just had to post a pic of him- so friendly and cheerful!! And everyone I show it to has a laugh! I won’t be forgetting our stop here for some time if not ever…. the playful atmosphere was very much needed and appreciated!"

4 weeks ago"Exceptionally clean rest area with a well-designed parking layout. RV parking is conveniently separated from the semi-truck area, which makes it much quieter and more comfortable. The only improvement I would suggest is upgrading the hand dryers in the restrooms to a more powerful model like the xtreme hand dryer, as the current ones take quite a long time to dry hands. @memerios1020"

7 months ago"Visited on 6.10.2025. Clean restrooms, some nostalgia about Route 66, lots of regional information guides regarding Missouri and the all important State Highway Map. Great place to take a break from driving and stretch your legs."

9 months ago"It's great to be on the road & find a Rest Area for weary Travellers to freshen up, snack, picnic ot let their kids loose on playground equipment. The Joplin Welcome Center is located on the west side just inside of Missouri at the state line. Reception and staff were very personable, friendly & helpful. Calli provided me with just the right maps & pamphlets needed for my three day trip to state. It is a nice older facility and not as spic & span as most rest areas. The public phones are inoperative, and there are no paper towels in bath rooms to dry hands after washing them (only dryers). Nevertheless, the Welcome Center is a great place to stop."
