"We held our pre-wedding reception at SOCALO and we had an amazing time. Extremely kind and attentive staff, with a very private and accommodating room they hosted us in. We hadn’t eaten here before, but our whole group was so impressed with the entrees, strong drinks, generous ceviche, and excellent guava/cheese empanadas! "My expectations were high based on the reviews, maybe too high. Both of our margaritas were pretty average and the shrimp ceviche appetizer was decent. We ordered the beef short rib and a shrimp dish. The short rib looks beautiful when it comes out and the server pours the sauce/broth over it at the table. The meat fell right of the bone and was cooked nicely, it just didn't have a ton of flavor. I had to dip each bite into the sauce which had great flavor. Similar with the shrimp dish. The flavor was good but nothing special in my opinion. We ended with the churro ice cream dessert which again was ok, but nothing special. Maybe the tacos were amazing and we should have ordered those, perhaps next time if we try it again."
