"Queso in the tortilla bowl with green chiles was excellent. My wife said they were the best chicken tacos she's ever had and the guacamole was fabulous. I wasn't sure what calabacitas were, but it turns out it was the squash soup - hearty and very flavorful. I had the brisket relleno Christmas style. The green chile and red chile topping were exactly what I expected from New Mexican cuisine. We got here really early and were able to get it. By the time we left there was a crowd waiting to get in. Service was also very helpful and patient."

"I tried the Frank Jr’s Bowl of Green Chile Stew, and it was outstanding. It’s a hearty Hatch green chile stew with diced beef and potatoes, rich in flavor and just the right level of heat. I was told it used to be made with pork and is now made with beef, and the change works. The beef adds depth and blends well with the green chile without overpowering it. The tortilla on the side was fresh and well-made, not an afterthought. This location has a classic New Mexican feel, casual, welcoming, and focused on the food. Service was direct and efficient. If you’re looking for authentic New Mexican cuisine in Albuquerque and want to experience green chile done right, Cocina Azul’s original location is an easy recommendation. I’d come back specifically for the stew."

"Food was delicious and was just what we were wanting for some authentic New Mexican cuisine. Service was a little bit slow but the food and drinks were great. I had the Frank Sr’s Combination Plate which had a variety of food and it was delicious. I also had the Frank Jr’s bowl of green chile stew and it was probably my favorite meal I’ve had over my weekend trip to NM."

"Food was excellent , the service was good. I definitely recommend this restaurant. My only negative is that you have to pay for your chips. Generally for anyone that eats Mexican food know chips come free with salsa. But still great food and they even give you a couple sopapillas free which was very nice. Great place."
