Perfectly located in the heart of the city, it’s one of those places you can smell before you even see it, and that’s never a bad sign! We picked up a tin of the famous Garrett Mix, that legendary combination of sweet caramel and savoury cheese popcorn that somehow works far better than it should. It’s beautifully packaged and makes a great souvenir… although whether it actually makes it back to the UK unopened is another matter entirely. The struggle to not crack it open before our flight tomorrow is going to be very real! The staff were warm and welcoming, serving up Chicago charm alongside the popcorn, and the whole experience felt like ticking off a true Windy City classic. Simple, iconic, and absolutely worth it."

"Walking down Michigan Street in the pouring rain and we smelled popcorn in the air. How could we resist. Pulled up our Google maps and found the route to Garrett's popcorn shop We ordered a bag of cheese popcorn, regular caramel corn, and the butter. Butter. Small bags are $6.99 each and give you a good amount of popcorn to try. Once back to our hotel we opened our bags and we're not disappointed.. The cheese popcorn has a very cheesy flavor without being overbearing and wasn't too messy. The popcorn itself has good texture. The caramel corn is smooth and creamy taste and the caramel. Wow, not disappointed. And The buttery popcorn is better than average run-in-the-mill butter popcorn."

"Okay, let me just get to the point: the best part? The popcorn, of course! I don’t think you can come to Chicago and not try this popcorn. It’s SO good!!! And it’s convenient that they have more then one location you can go to. The worst part? I’ve been to another Garret’s before and that experience was super busy and it took us a long time to get inside but I felt like it was all a part of the experience. This time around, this location was not busy at all and I felt rushed by the lady behind the counter. She wasn’t very friendly but it was nearing about 7pm and I’m sure she was tired, she seemed to be working on her own. They also had very little left but we managed to get 2 medium bags and one small. We got caramel, cheddar and butter and they are so good!! So, keep in mind the later you go in the day, you might risk them running out of a flavor you want. The giant containers, in my opinion, are crazy expensive (friendly or family container I think was $96) but the other bags are better priced."
