Walnut Canyon Visitor Center

"Historic gem, hidden in northern Arizona. Easy one-way loop hike into, under, and around the rockwall. The visitor center is well kept. $25 entry fee unless you are Military, a Veteran, or have a national park pass. The views of the canyon were stunning. The amount of history was overwhelming. Very well preserved. Clean, safe, and well kept. I would recommend arriving early if on the weekend.. After we left, the parking lot was completely full."

"The visitors center is the first stop when visiting Walnut Canyon and is also the trailhead for the Island Trail. The Island Trail os the trail everybody will take to see the houses and is located inside the visitors center out the back door. The visitors center also has informative displays along with a nice gift shop with the usual souvenirs."

"276 Stairs in less than a mile, breath taking beautiful, many ruins, nice clean debris free trails, bring water, snacks, and strong legs, there is an easier trail that has ruins as well. Ranger station gift shop, restrooms, picnic tables, parking service animals allowed, respect the land leave no trace behind!"

"We only went on the shorter walk but had a beautiful view. We plan to do the long stair step ascent into the canyon next time we go! We are looking very forward to that!"

"Walnut canyon is so beautiful but quite the hike. If you go while it's hot out. Take your time and bring enough water. They have a water station but you might want to freeze water bottles before hand and they will slowly melt and help cool you down"
